Our Future

Train a lad in the way he ought to go; He will not swerve from it even in old age. Proverbs 22:6 - JPS Tanakh

Then children were brought to him (Yeshua) so that he might lay his hands on them and pray for them, but the talmidim rebuked the people bringing them. However, Yeshua said, “Let the children come to me, don’t stop them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these. Matthew 19:13-15 (CJB)

Once Rab came to a certain place and decreed a fast but no rain fell. The Reader then stepped down at his request before the ark and recited, ‘He causeth the wind to blow’, and the wind blew; [he continued], ‘He causeth the rain to fall’, and rain fell. Rab thereupon asked him, What is your special merit? The latter replied: I am a teacher of young children and I teach the children of the poor as well as those of the rich; I take no fees from any who cannot afford to pay; further, I have a fishpond and any boy who is reluctant [to learn] I bribe with some of the fishes from it and thereby appease him so that he becomes eager to learn. Tractate Ta’anit 24a (Soncino)

Children & Youth

Club Maccabee is a children's Club combining fun and games with Hebrew Lessons and Religious Education. Too often Jewish Religious training has had as much appeal as a trip to the dentist. As Messianic Jews we believe it should be different. Club Maccabee is a place that Jewish kids will want to attend. The children will have positive thoughts about both God and their Jewish identity. Like the Maccabees of Jewish history, we want children to choose to stand up for God!

HaDerekh (The Way) is the name of our Youth Group for Jr. & Sr. High Teens. Weekly there are Scripture Studies on Wednesday Nights and Youth Activities on Saturday nights after Shabbat. Once a month we have a special HaDerek Outreach which is a fun and fast paced David Letterman style night of entertainment for teens. It is organized and run by the youth of the synagogue for the benefit of other Jewish teens in our community at large. Music, Skits, Videos and "odd" talents" are sought after and put to use in this monthly event. Jewish Education and Values are also weaved into the evening to challenge the teens to live their lives in the way that is pleasing to God. Our HaDerekh Youth Programs focus on providing Jewish youth religious instruction and life direction. We want our children to take God seriously both now and for the rest of their lives.
